If you like dabbing CBD, you are probably familiar with CBD shatter. It has a polished appearance, like a scoop of honey, and breaks easily upon touch.
The average CBD consumer typically favors tinctures and edibles, but CBD shatter belongs to a class of sophisticated products, and many consumers are unversed in it.
Standard CBD products usually contain moderate levels of CBD, but CBD shatter is packing an above-average concentration of cannabidiol.
And so, CBD shatter is mostly favored by veteran CBD consumers, and not novice CBD consumers, who need to start with a low CBD dosage, and slowly adjust into a bigger dosage.
What is CBD Shatter?
CBD shatter is a concentrated form of cannabidiol. Manufacturers usually infuse it with hemp-derived terpenes to spice up its flavor and aroma.
Owing to its exceptional potency, CBD shatter is popular among people that take cannabis for medical reasons. It may be ingested sublingually, orally, and by inhalation.
CBD shatter is not much different than CBD isolate, as both consist of pure cannabidiol. But CBD shatter undergoes further refining to improve its form and texture.
CBD shatter may be brittle, but one of the main advantages of shatter is that it has an excellent shelf life, as long as you store it properly.

How is CBD Shatter Made?
To obtain premium CBD shatter, you need to use 100% organic hemp, and the extraction method may either be butane extraction or C02 extraction.
Most manufacturers seem to prefer butane extraction as it not only saves resources but down to the fact that butane is configured to unlock hemp terpenes.
Butane is mixed with hemp and then vaporized, leaving behind a concentrated form of CBD that is set into CBD shatter. The downside to butane extraction is the potential for residual solvent.
With C02 extraction, carbon dioxide is elevated into a supercritical state, and passed through industrial hemp, dissolving all the cannabinoids and compounds. The C02 evaporates at room temperature, leaving behind CBD, which is put through a refining process into shatter.
Features of CBD Shatter
Shiny and brittle: CBD shatter is a crystal form of CBD. It looks like glass but breaks apart when the smallest pressure is applied.
Quick effects: CBD shatter delivers extreme potency, and so, the effects of CBD usually kick in rapidly. It’s particularly useful if you take CBD to manage health problems.
It has no psychoactive effects: CBD shatter doesn’t contain the psychoactive ingredient, THC, but rather, it mostly contains CBD. Thus, you may ingest it anywhere and not worry about getting high.
How to Ingest CBD Shatter
Considering that CBD shatter consists of high cannabidiol levels, it’s mostly consumed by experienced CBD users. And there are diverse ways of enjoying CBD shatter.
Sublingually: sublingual ingestion is known to achieve rapid and strong effects. It involves placing a fraction of CBD shatter under your tongue, where CBD is absorbed by your sublingual blood vessels.
Dabbing: this is probably the most common way of ingesting shatter. You require a dab rig, a nail, a dabber, and a blowtorch. Using the dabber, you install some shatter on the heated nail, and the smoke passes through water, getting filtered and chilled before it hits your lungs.
Dab pen: this equipment consists of a battery and an atomizer. You basically open the dab pen, put some CBD shatter in the heating chamber, and hold down the heat button as you take hits.
Nectar collector: it comprises a pointed tip that is heated, and then you place the hot tip against the CBD shatter, vaporizing CBD. Now you can then inhale the CBD vapor. Considering the open setup, using a nectar collector allows two or more people to enjoy CBD shatter at once.
Vaping: you can buy a cartridge pre-filled with CBD shatter, and then install the heating system and enjoy your plant resources.
Edibles: you can infuse CBD shatter with your favorite beverages or foods, and then ingest it along with your food or beverage. But resist the temptation to add CBD shatter to your food while cooking because the heat would be extreme and damage the terpenes.
Is CBD Shatter Legal?
When Congress passed the Farm Bill in 2018, the extraction and sale of CBD became legal, and considering that CBD shatter is basically pure CBD, it is 100% legal. The government doesn’t allow CBD products to contain more than 0.3% THC. And so, only buy 3rd party lab-tested CBD products.
