Mylar is the material typically installed in grow rooms or grow tents to increase light reflection and improve crop yield. Reflective mylar comes in diverse materials and is highly efficient.
Quality mylars are known to reflect up to 97% of the light waves that hit them, and so, if you have an indoor grow room center, it’s recommended that you install the mylar on the walls.
Quality mylar is typically made of durable material, and it needs to have dimensional stability and electrical insulation. By using quality mylar for your grow room, you’ll improve yield.
You can hang mylar in your grow room in different methods. The following steps outline different methods of installing mylar in your indoor grow center:
1. You can spread out the mylar against the walls of your indoor grow center and hold it in position with thumb tacks. Thumb tacks are small devices for pinning items into structures with the force of your thumb.
2. You can spread out the mylar across the grow tent or grow room and then stitch it into place by using a sticky backed velcro. However, lining the mylar with velcro can eat up much of the mylar and minimize its effectiveness.
3. You can also spread out the mylar against the grow tent walls and then use a spray adhesive to hold it in place. However, make sure that you’re using a non-toxic spray adhesive.
4. You can also spread out the mylar against the grow tent or grow room and then hold it in place by using duct tape. This is the most common way of installing mylar, but make sure to use quality duct tape to avoid damaging the paint upon pulling it off.
